Frequently Asked Questions
-
New dancers are placed into classes based on both age and experience level to help them feel comfortable, confident, and set up for success.
Younger dancers typically begin in our age-based introductory programs, while older dancers new to dance are usually placed in Level 1 classes where they are introduced to the fundamentals and foundational technique of each dance style.
Our preschool classes are designed for dancers ages 3–4, combo classes are geared toward ages 5–7, pre-level classes are designed for ages 8–11, and Level 1 classes are generally recommended for dancers ages 11 and older who are beginning their dance journey.
Our instructors create a supportive and encouraging environment focused on helping dancers build confidence, develop proper technique, and grow at a pace that feels both fun and rewarding.
As dancers gain experience and skills, we help guide them into the classes and levels that best fit their individual development.
-
Each dance style has its own Dress Code designed to support proper technique, movement, and safety during class.

We understand that illnesses can happen unexpectedly.
If a dancer is mildly under the weather, such as feeling run down or having a minor headache, they are welcome to attend class or sit and observe if needed.
However, if a dancer has a fever, flu symptoms, vomiting, or any contagious illness, we ask that they remain home for at least 72 hours to help keep our dancers, families, and instructors healthy.
-
No dancer is ever required to participate in our Competitive dance program.
The Compound Dance Complex offers both Recreational and Competitive dance programs, allowing each dancer and family to choose the path that best fits their goals, schedule, and level of commitment.
Whether your dancer is looking for a fun weekly class or is interested in pursuing a more competitive training environment, we have programs designed for all experience levels.
Visit our Dance Programs page to learn more about each option.
