Pre/Kinder
Dance Classes

Creative movement and supportive instruction make our Preschool and Kindergarten classes a fun and welcoming first dance experience, helping young dancers build confidence, coordination, rhythm, and a lifelong love for movement.

What Are Pre/Kinder Dance Classes?

Our Preschool and Kindergarten dance classes are designed specifically for young dancers who are just beginning their dance journey. These classes introduce children to movement, music, rhythm, coordination, and classroom structure in a fun, age-appropriate environment.

Through creative movement, basic dance skills, and engaging activities, young dancers learn foundational movement concepts while developing confidence, independence, listening skills, and social interaction.

For many children, these classes are their very first organized activity, making them an exciting opportunity to learn, grow, and discover a love for dance.

What Young Dancers Learn in Pre/Kinder Classes

At The Compound Dance Complex, our dance studio in Redmond, Oregon, offers Preschool and Kindergarten classes that help young dancers develop important physical, social, and emotional skills through movement and music.

Dancers Will Develop:

  • Coordination and balance

  • Rhythm and musical awareness

  • Listening and following directions

  • Classroom confidence

  • Social interaction and teamwork

  • Creativity and imagination

  • Developmental Motor Skills

  • Independence and self-confidence

These early dance experiences help children develop skills that support success both inside and outside the studio.

Research has shown that movement-based activities can help support a child's physical, social, emotional, and cognitive development. Dance introduces children to coordination, memory, rhythm, creativity, and problem-solving while encouraging active learning through movement.

Many professional dancers began dancing between the ages of 3 and 5, but the biggest goal at this age isn't creating perfect dancers — it's helping children develop confidence, joy, friendships, and a positive relationship with movement.

For young children, learning to participate in a class, follow directions, and work alongside other dancers can be just as important as learning dance steps.
