Pom
Dance Classes
Sharp movements and high-energy choreography make Pom an exciting style that helps dancers build precision, synchronization, stamina, confidence, and strong performance skills through dynamic team-focused movement.
What Is Pom Dance?
Pom is a high-energy dance style known for sharp motions, synchronized choreography, strong visual performance, and team-based routines.
Originally inspired by dance teams, spirit squads, and performance groups, Pom is now widely featured in professional sports, college dance teams, high school programs, and competitive dance. The style combines elements of Jazz, precision movement, athleticism, and performance into a fast-paced and energetic form of dance.
In addition to performance choreography, dancers may also learn Sideline routines—these are short, spirited dances performed during sporting events, pep rallies, and other live performances. Sideline focuses on crowd engagement, energy, teamwork, and clean execution while helping dancers develop confidence and strong performance skills.
Dancers learn to perform with accuracy, timing, confidence, and teamwork while developing strong technical skills, stage presence, and performance quality.
Many dancers are drawn to Pom because of its upbeat energy, powerful formations, synchronized movement, exciting choreography, and strong team atmosphere.

Pom dance traces its roots back to school spirit squads and performance teams in the 1930s and 1940s. Over time, the style evolved into a highly athletic and technical form of dance commonly seen in collegiate dance teams, professional sports organizations, and national dance competitions.
Today, Pom is one of the fastest-growing dance styles in competitive dance and is frequently featured by NFL, NBA, college, and championship dance teams across the country.
Many of the sharp motions and synchronized movements that make Pom visually exciting are designed to create a powerful performance effect when viewed from the audience.
