Acro
Dance Classes

Strength-based movement and athletic technique make Acro an exciting style that helps dancers build flexibility, balance, coordination, control, and confidence through tumbling, floor work, and acrobatic skills.

What Is Acro Dance?

Acro combines the artistry of dance with the athleticism of acrobatics, creating a unique style that blends flexibility, strength, balance, tumbling, and technical movement. Unlike traditional gymnastics, Acro focuses on seamlessly connecting acrobatic skills with dance choreography, musicality, and performance.

Dancers learn how to safely progress through skills while developing body awareness, confidence, and control. From cartwheels and handstands to walkovers and advanced acrobatic tricks, Acro challenges dancers to push their abilities while maintaining strong dance technique.

Many dancers are drawn to Acro because it combines athletic achievement with creativity and performance.

Acro dance has roots dating back more than 100 years and grew in popularity through vaudeville performances during the early 1900s. Performers began combining dance choreography with acrobatic tricks to create exciting and visually impressive stage performances.

Today, Acro is one of the fastest-growing styles in competitive dance and is frequently featured in dance competitions, conventions, and television shows because of its combination of athleticism, flexibility, and artistry.

One of the biggest differences between gymnastics and Acro is that Acro dancers are trained to perform acrobatic skills while maintaining musicality, expression, and dance technique throughout a routine.
