Dance Programs

Early Childhood, Recreational, and Competition Company

Every dancer's journey is unique. Whether your child is stepping into their very first class, exploring new dance styles, or ready for advanced training and performance opportunities, The Compound Dance Complex offers programs designed to help dancers grow, learn, and thrive at every stage.

Find the Right Program for Your Dancer

At The Compound Dance Complex, we understand that every dancer begins their journey at a different stage. That's why we've created programs designed to meet dancers where they are — from their very first dance class to advanced training and competitive performance opportunities.

Whether your child is discovering dance for the first time or looking to pursue additional challenges and experiences, our programs provide a supportive environment focused on growth, confidence, technique, creativity, and personal development.

No matter where your dancer begins, our goal is to help them build skills, create friendships, gain confidence, and develop a lifelong appreciation for dance.

Early Childhood Dance Program

Ages 3-7

Our Early Childhood Dance Program is designed specifically for young dancers beginning their dance journey. Through creative movement, music, foundational dance skills, and age-appropriate instruction, dancers develop confidence, coordination, rhythm, listening skills, and a love for movement.

Classes focus on creating a positive first dance experience while helping children learn classroom structure, social interaction, and foundational movement skills in a fun and encouraging environment.

Young dancers also have the opportunity to participate in our annual recital, giving them the chance to step onto the stage, perform in front of family and friends, and celebrate everything they have learned throughout the season. For many families, these first recital moments become treasured memories and the beginning of a lifelong love for dance.

This Program Includes:

  • Preschool Dance Classes

  • Kindergarten Dance Classes

  • Introductory Combo Classes

  • Age-Appropriate Movement & Music Education

  • Annual Recital Performance Opportunities

Many dancers begin here before progressing into our Recreational Dance Program as they grow and develop.

Recreational Dance Program

Ages 7+

Our Recreational Dance Program is designed for dancers who want to explore dance, develop new skills, build confidence, and enjoy performance opportunities without the additional commitment of competition.

Dancers may choose one class or multiple classes based on their interests and goals. Whether a dancer wants to dance once a week or train in several styles, our recreational program provides flexibility while helping dancers continue developing technique, friendships, creativity, and performance skills.

Throughout the season, dancers work toward our annual recital, where they have the opportunity to showcase their hard work, growth, and accomplishments on stage. These performances allow family and friends to celebrate the progress dancers have made while creating memories that often become highlights of the year.

Recreational Program Benefits:

  • Flexible class options

  • Annual recital performances

  • Age-appropriate progression

  • Confidence building

  • Friendships and teamwork

  • Performance experience

  • Skill development across multiple dance styles

Whether a dancer is taking their very first class or continuing to build their skills year after year, our Recreational Dance Program provides a welcoming environment where dancers can learn, grow, perform, and have fun.

Dance offers benefits that extend far beyond the studio.

Research continues to show that participation in activities like dance can help children develop confidence, discipline, creativity, teamwork, goal-setting skills, physical coordination, and social development.

Beyond learning dance technique, dancers often develop valuable life skills such as perseverance, accountability, communication, leadership, and self-confidence that benefit them both inside and outside the studio.

At The Compound Dance Complex, our goal is not only to help dancers become stronger performers but also to help them become confident and capable individuals who are prepared to take on challenges both on and off the dance floor.

Competition Company

By Evaluation & Placement

For dancers seeking additional training, performance opportunities, conventions, and competitions, Competition Company offers a higher level of commitment and involvement beyond our recreational program.

Competition Company is designed for dancers who are passionate about continuing their growth and challenging themselves through additional opportunities both inside and outside the studio. Through advanced training, team rehearsals, performances, conventions, and competitions, dancers continue developing technique, artistry, confidence, leadership, teamwork, and performance quality.

TCDC’s Competition program is about much more than preparing routines and attending competitions. It is about learning how to set goals, overcome challenges, support teammates, and discover what can be achieved through dedication, consistency, and hard work. Dancers are encouraged to challenge themselves, celebrate progress, and continually strive to become the best version of themselves both on and off the dance floor.

To dance is to be out of yourself. Larger, more beautiful, more powerful.
— Agnes de Mille

In addition to group performances, dancers may have opportunities to participate in solos, duets, and trios, allowing them to further develop their individual performance skills, artistry, stage presence, and confidence. Whether performing independently or as part of a team, dancers gain valuable experience while learning responsibility, commitment, collaboration, and personal accountability.

Competition Company dancers are surrounded by other motivated dancers who share similar goals and a passion for learning. The friendships formed through countless rehearsals, performances, conventions, competitions, road trips, and shared experiences often become one of the most rewarding parts of the journey.

Dancers have opportunities to attend conventions and competitions throughout Oregon and neighboring states, learning from industry professionals while gaining valuable stage experience and exposure to the larger dance community. These experiences help dancers step outside their comfort zones, build confidence under pressure, and learn skills that extend far beyond dance itself.

While performances and competitions are exciting milestones, the greatest rewards often come from the growth that happens along the way. Dancers learn resilience, leadership, time management, teamwork, discipline, and how to work toward long-term goals—skills that benefit them throughout school, future careers, and life.

For many dancers, Competition Company becomes more than a program. It becomes a second family, a source of lifelong friendships, and a place where they discover what they are truly capable of achieving.

I do not try to dance better than anyone else. I only try to dance better than myself.
